Matchday Hospitality at Hereford FC
On Saturday 2rd November, we were kindly invited along for VIP matchday hospitality to Hereford FC. Our friend Charlotte from the Hereford Business Solutions Centre invited us as guests at their table. They were also the matchday sponsors so it was a real honour to be invited on that particular day!
As huge rugby fans, it was a completely different experience for us. Following a similar format to what we are used to, proceedings began with the Edgar Street Experience. A look back at the Achievements of Hereford United. A real trip down memory lane. Then Martin Brain, the host took over.
The food was lovely, and carved beautifully by Terry.
A particular highlight of the afternoon for us was Gareth Davies talking tactics. We love stuff like this – the insightful, other side of the game you don’t consider when you’re simply watching the game. Following this was a brief Q&A then it was time for kick off.
Before that was a well observed silence and the Last Post. Then it was game time.
With a new management team and a young and youthful squad the fixture against decent opposition was, before the game, a tough ask considering this. However it was a very good, close game. Hereford taking the lead through our chosen Man of the Match James Roberts with a superb header. His first competitive goal of his Bulls career. The Bulls looked good for the unexpected win however Altrincham snatched an equaliser in the 88th minute. The game finished 1-1 which, given Altrincham who were in 8th position and the transitioning Bulls was a result they probably would have taken before the match. However with a victory within reach we were gutted the youngsters couldn’t quite hold on.
