Work Experience at The DM Lab
Our relocation has had a positive impact on so many aspects of the business. A good example of this is that we can hold meetings here. Plus with the extra space we have, we’ve not been shy in being able to offer opportunities to individuals looking for work experience. Over the last couple of weeks, we’ve been able to offer Lewis a little bit of work experience here at The DM Lab. With a background in design, he was looking to expand his knowledge in the industry. He is particularly interested in the coding (HTML & CSS) side of things.
With loads of projects going on, we have been able to accommodate.
However, with Lewis’ skills in design we’ve been able to utilise to great effect. Working on a few little projects over his time here that we had going on. He has immersed himself into our environment and routine. Impressing with his work on a flyer, logo design, social media graphics and branding project. Existing skills that he was able to apply and develop while being here.
We haven’t got him in just making tea or posting letters! We’ve thrown him in at the deep end and he’s done well. The best way to learn and develop is working on a live project with an end product. Setting menial, internal tasks don’t really benefit us or him. So, we handed him some responsibility and has excelled. The feedback we have received from the respective clients has been superb.
Lewis had this to say about his time here so far:
I am thoroughly enjoying my time at The DM Lab so far. With the guidance of The DM Lab team, I have been kept busy with a plethora of diverse projects to get stuck into. Not least learning to code in HTML & CSS for web design as a key additional employable skill. It is a thoroughly enjoyable working environment without limits to creativity.
