INTRODUCTION / SUMMARY

At The DM Lab, we are committed to a sustainable future, actively pursuing our goal of achieving net zero carbon emissions by 2030. Our journey began with a comprehensive assessment of our carbon footprint, allowing us to identify key areas for improvement. With the support of our team and partnerships with organizations like Tech Zero, we are dedicated to implementing responsible practices that benefit our clients, community, and the planet. Our values of innovation, transparency, and social responsibility guide our efforts to ensure we make a meaningful impact as a digital marketing agency.

If you have used or collected data for other schemes (such as CCA, EU ETS, CRC Energy Efficiency), you can list them here.

We used The SME Climate Hub’s Carbon Calculator (Normative) – click here for to see our report.

Are there any activities you’ve excluded from your calculations?

None.

What is your net zero target year?

2030

What short-term targets do you have in place to reduce your total emissions and meet your net zero target?

We aim to reduce our scope 1 emissions by 25% by 2030. As a collective, we already do a substantial amount to reduce our carbon footprint, so we have the difficult task and decreasing this further, so we did not want to be too ambitious. In the next 12 months, we plan to implement energy-saving measures, reduce business travel using public transport, and enhance our remote work policies to further cut emissions.

Who is responsible in your organisation for achieving this target?

Directors and Sustainability Officers Chris and Dale are equally responsible for overseeing our net zero strategy and progress.

Completed Carbon Reduction Initiatives

We have addressed several areas, including:

  • Transitioning to green web hosting, reducing our digital footprint – currently in progress with the Green Web Hosting audit. Also, vetting third-party suppliers to ensure their values align with ours. For example our primary third-party suppliers are ANS (for our website hosting) and Printed.com (our print supplier).
  • Making a conscious effort to address our office’s energy usage by shutting everything down overnight, choosing more energy efficient hardware where possible and reducing waste in favour of recycling. Our shared building has recently had motion activated LED lighting installed too.
  • Implementing remote working policies that will decrease commuting emissions.

How many tonnes of carbon removal credits have you purchased?

We have been subscribed to Ecologi since 2020 and have avoided 45.01 tonnes of CO2e

What projects do these credits come from, and are they verified by a certification body (such as Verra or the Gold Standard)?

Ecologi work closely with organisations like Sylvera, the leading carbon intelligence platform. Sylvera independently verifies each of the reduced deforestation projects Ecologi supports which is what our subscription funds. Ecologi also uses the Gold Standard and the Verified Carbon Standard (VCS) to certify the carbon offsets it provides.

Have you purchased other kinds of offset credits? If so, how many tonnes of CO2 have you offset?

These may be ‘avoidance’ offsets such as clean cookstoves or renewable energy projects that you purchase to offset your entire footprint and become carbon neutral.

We have been subscribed to Ecologi since 2020 and have avoided 45.01 tonnes of CO2e

What projects are you supporting with these offsets, and are they verified by a certification body (such as Verra or the Gold Standard)?

Ecologi (as mentioned above), The SME Climate Hub is not a Gold Standard, but it does collaborate with the Gold Standard, SME Climate Hub is not Verra, but the two organisations do work together on climate action, the Good Business Charter (GBC) is not a gold standard, but it is an accreditation program that recognises responsible business practices in the UK.

WRAP UP

As we move forward, our ambitions remain steadfast in achieving net zero by 2030. The DM Lab continues to engage in implement as many actions and solutions to raise our green and sustainable credentials, and remain accountable for our carbon emissions. Together, we can build a sustainable future that prioritises environmental stewardship and drives collective action against climate change.
