On Monday 26th November, Marketing Director Chris was invited for afternoon tea with The Lord Young of Graffham at the House of Lords.
The prestigious and exclusive event was organised by Michelle Ovens of Small Business Saturday. It was attended by other representatives of the Small Biz 100 2018.
It was great to be able to catch up with new friends made at the Blue Tie event earlier in the year and put faces to names from Twitter too! Collaring Andrew from Sauce & Brown as he walked past and catching up with Hannah from Apples & Pips, Steve from Od Designs, Julian from AMD Promotions and briefly caught Aly Harte too! We did see our other friends but there wasn’t enough time to see you all (sorry!).
The room, within the Houses of Parliament itself was overlooking the Thames. Able to soak up the sights and sounds from the terrace. Soon the mingling stopped and the presentations began.
Speakers
Speaking first was the host of the event, Lord Young of Graffham. Lord Young was a former Secretary of State for Trade and Industry and Government adviser on enterprise and small business. It was great to hear his message to the #SmallBiz100 when he described small businesses as the backbone of our economy.
It was also good to hear from Greg Clark, MP for Tunbridge Wells. Secretary of State for Business, Energy & Industrial Strategy. Great to hear praise for small businesses’ contribution to their communities.
It was also pretty cool to hear from Melinda Roylett from the event sponsors Square being represented, especially as we integrate their payment method into a lot of sites we work with.
Last but not least was Director of Small Business Saturday, Michelle Ovens MBE. Once again championing us small businesses. We’ve said it before and we’ll keep saying it – thank you for choosing us as one of this years’ Small Biz 100. We’ve embraced the accolade by not making it about us, but by making it about other brilliant small businesses. Exactly as we said we would in our application.
Now we’re looking forward to Saturday – which is no normal Saturday. It’s…
Small Business Saturday!
So make sure you get involved and support us and other small businesses for the special day!
