How Important Is A Responsive Website?

First things first – a responsive website is one that ‘responds’ to the size of the device it is being viewed on. With the increasing popularity of mobile phones and tablets, a responsive website could make or break a potential sale. Why you ask? Have you been on a website you are familiar with on a laptop or desktop PC then browsed the same site on your phone or tablet and find yourself having to scroll across to see what you need to see? Do you need to pinch zoom to be able navigate the site and to click on buttons? Admit it, you find this frustrating. I do! It’s a necessity to scroll up and down, but anything that I have to scroll sideways I save for when I’m on a PC / laptop……That’s if I even remember. Imagine if how I feel reflects a majority or even all of the browsers on your website? It won’t be doing you any favours.

Anything new these days is developed with mobile compatibility in mind, this goes without saying. But I’ve got an older website, what do I do?! I hear your cries and we feel your pain, but worry not! We will help turn your website into a mobile friendly site, just get in touch and we’ll talk you through what needs to be done. With 2015 coming up, it’s the perfect time to give your website a facelift. New Year, new look!

If you send out newsletters, they can be designed to be responsive as well. Think of all the missed opportunities when people open up your mail, see it doesn’t display properly and is instantly disregarded – just because you have to pro actively scroll around to see what it’s about. Of course if somebody is going to use your business they have more chance of ‘bothering’ to read the newsletter / get in touch. Quite often if I open a newsletter that isn’t responsive, I don’t tend to scroll around to view the content. But that’s just me, I’m not everyone, but in today’s fast moving world, who spares these valuable seconds pinching and swiping? I want content right in front of me. I want buttons and links I don’t have to zoom in to press and I don’t want to have to download pictures.

It’s not about being picky, it’s a level of expectation these days. From our point of view, we see it as laziness – there are businesses out there that take care of this, so what are you waiting for? If it’s not making you money – it’s costing you money! Contact us right now!
