We have worked hard to get where we are today. We funded the startup completely by ourselves, not asking for a penny off anyone for help. We are beginning to reap the rewards of this continued hard work which has not come easy. We are very cautious of anyone wanting to take a piece of our pie. We have met some great people along the way, Jennifer, Colita, Rippo and Martina to name just a few.
It’s often difficult to realize people’s full intentions until it’s too late and as we are still small, we have to assess everybody and every situation that comes our way looking to ‘help’ us. We love to collaborate with people and businesses. Locally, we use F8 Creates and ABC Print for example. We are genuine, honest and hard working people and experiences, whether they are good or bad have shaped us the way we are today. Some lessons we are grateful to have learned, other not so much. We have some fantastic people on our side and 2015 can only get better for us. The hard work does not let up (link) but we don’t mind that. Hopefully as we grow more people will take notice of us and we will attract the right ones. When people want to be a part of our business, we have to know it is for all the right reasons. Ultimately there will be benefits but that will come in time. Lessons learned have allowed to analyse people and situations for what they are and this ‘sixth sense’ we have developed and honed has saved our business on a number of occasions.
If anyone wants to be a part of The DM Lab they need to be able to offer something that we cannot already we can’t or do something we can’t do. Talk is talk but if you deliver, we will take note. Empty promises and inactivity will cost you, there are no free rides at The Lab! You get out what you put in and we have met people who want a piece of something they did not shed blood, sweat and tears over. This point alone is hard for anyone to comprehend unless you have done or do it yourself. Running a business is hard work. People often forget that we existed before they were around and we will continue to exist if they go.
We have learned some BIG lessons this year. This has cost us unfortunately. Like everybody else, we intend on making 2015 a big year for The DM Lab. Expanding our team is always at the forefront of our minds but it has to be the right person for the right reasons. Too many people have wanted to take credit for what we have done and what we continue to do, but it is a handful of people that make this business work, they know who they are and we thank you for that 😉
Have a great Christmas and New Year and we hope to hear from you in 2015 as we guarantee you’ll be hearing a LOT more from us next year!
