On Friday 8th March, we attended the Midlands Business Awards at the Athena in Leicester.
Now in it’s 13th Year, The Midlands Business Awards is a positive and dynamic major event in the business calendar for the whole of the Midlands region and its concept is refreshingly different.
We were one of four finalists overall in the ‘Midlands Corporate Commitment to the Community’ category.
We felt as if were punching above our weight a bit as we were up against some other very good finalists!
They were:
Intouch Games Ltd from Halesowen. Intouch Games is the company behind many world leading brands in the mobile casino (eGaming) sector – mFortune, PocketWin and Mr Spin.
Close Brothers Asset Finance & Leasing from Burton-on-Trent. Close Brothers Asset Finance offers a range of funding options including hire purchase, leasing and refinancing enabling your business to buy assets.
Advance Your Wellbeing from Birmingham. Advance build a strong relationship with you to improve your corporate and social responsibility towards your employees’ wellbeing.
Still, we were optimistic as we do a lot for the size of the business.
After a drinks reception, we headed to table 21, which we shared with fellow finalists Chamber Pencils Limited. Chambers Pencils Limited were finalists in Midlands Manufacturer of the Year and Midlands Family Business of the Year. We got to know the guys throughout the evening and they were a great bunch!
Unfortunately table 21 didn’t host any winners on the night. However, well done Chambers Pencils team for getting a special mention in the ‘Midlands Family Business of the Year’ category. Despite coming home empty handed, we did enjoy the evening. Meeting new people, raising the profile of the business and enjoying some lovely food.
The County had a couple of mentions throughout the night, thanks to ourselves and Mike Ashton. Mike Ashton picked up the MBA 2019 contribution to Midlands Business Award. We’ve actually met Mike back in our early days when he was Chief Executive of Herefordshire & Worcester Chamber of Commerce. Small world! Congratulations Mike on your outstanding achievement.
We wish to extend our congratulations to every single finalist in every single category. We’re pleased to have been a finalist, hope you are too. Huge congratulations to the winners of each category too. We love this tweet from fellow category finalist Marie from Advance Wellbeing UK:

We would like to extend our thanks to Martha, Andrew, RRA Architects, Slaters and our friend Jo from Hereford RFC for their messages of support too, we really appreciate it!
It hasn’t dampened our spirits anyway – to come we have 2 (3 if you haven’t seen it on Twitter) new sponsorships in the community which we are excited about. Keep an eye out for that soon!
Cheers everyone!
