Any recognition for our work is both humbling and appreciated.
We’re so pleased to have picked up a Spotlight Award recently! With a primary focus on growing other people’s businesses, we neglect our own a bit. We’ve addressed this lately by posting on social media regularly and blogging. We know we’re doing a good job, and anything that comes externally, like kind words, a like on Facebook or a retweet is a bonus! It’s not a narcissistic thing, it’s just nice to know that others, apart from ourselves and clients, like our work.
We don’t go overboard shouting about what we do, we just sort of get on with it.
So when we do get noticed and even rewarded brings a massive smile to our faces. No more so than our recent win at the One4all Spotlight Awards 2018 in the Creative / Digital / Media category.
Awards add value to a business by raising the profile, endorsing credibility and showing we stand out from the crowd. We’ve been judged by people who don’t know a great deal about us, never met us, but go by what we’ve accomplished. This gives us huge satisfaction. Of course we’ll always say we’re doing a great job but to have this confirmed by somebody else is awesome!
Anyway, here’s a bit about Chris, who picked up the Spotlight Award
Chris works tirelessly for the business. Working unsociable hours, travelling to see clients all over the UK while balancing his own family life with 4 young daughters and on a daily basis, before work, he visits his father who is disabled. All this and his voluntary efforts outside of work. Chris also runs a local football club which has gone from strength to strength, starting with just 2 teams the club now has over 15 men’s, ladies, boys and girl’s teams. He has helped the club gain recognition locally and has been able to give players incredible opportunities along the way.
For example his girls team have been mascots for the Manchester City women’s team for a televised match. The side featured some of the England ladies players too! He was also able to get one lucky player the chance to walk out onto the Wembley pitch with the Women’s FA Cup.
He is incredibly passionate about everything he does.
Making sure everyone is happy and selflessly creating opportunities for others. This is because he wants to, not because he thrives off the recognition. Letting him know that what he does and all he does, does not go unnoticed and is appreciated. I’m saying this from a colleague point of view but I’m sure parents, coaches and players from his club feel the same too. He never shows he’s having a bad day to anyone outside of work and at work makes sure every client we have is happy. Even when I know a job or situation at work is taxing, he keeps a cool head and will personally take control. He really does go the extra mile. I get frustrated sometimes but he is always calm and diplomatic and he’s to be admired for that.
Running your own business isn’t easy. Juggling this with all the other stuff he has going on makes it even more challenging. He doesn’t moan, he just gets on with it.
So, Chris, enjoy your moment in the spotlight, with your Spotlight Award, you deserve it!
