This weekend just gone, we sponsored the U9s section of the Greyhound Juniors RFC to go on a ‘Mini Tour’!
We funded the kids to take part in the Sale Sharks pre-match Festival of Rugby. After the festival they watched the Sharks take on Connacht in the Challenge Cup.
We’ve an avid interest in both clubs, and when we saw the opportunity we jumped on it! 8 U9s made the 3 hour journey up on a minibus which Dale was on too. Dale’s son plays in the section so he accompanied them up, though he doesn’t need much of an excuse to watch the Sharks!
The kids were awesome! It was all about the experience and player development, plus a bit of team bonding. They loved the trip up, all playing on their tablets and phones together.
We met Cameron Neild who came by and chatted to the kids which was very cool. However we did miss Denny who was this week’s Shark in the #RuckTruck for programme signing and Shark selfies. Our last match over ran then we had to change the kids ready to watch the match. Toilet breaks, injuries and food meant the break between matches went in a flash. We couldn’t even squeeze in a visit during the festival!
It was a brilliant day out and the kids really enjoyed it. It was a real memorable experience for them and they were buzzing at rugby on the following Sunday. They all came back with loads of goodies from the club shop so they’re all kitted out ready for Friday! What’s happening Friday you ask? Sharks are at our neighbours Worcester Warriors for the first Premiership Cup fixture. So, we’ll be there supporting them AND the kids will be recording videos for the Channel 5 cameo report thanks to #RugbySaleSharks for the opportunity. Look out for them!
