After a brilliant 2017, we knew we had to make 2018 even bigger.
Even better. Even more successful. We made it as a finalist in the Best of Britain awards, narrowly missing out. However 1 of 2 Midlands region finalists and only 1 of 10 nationally, we weren’t too cut up about it. We did however pick up a Spotlight Award in the Creative / Digital Media category which we were pretty stoked about.
But even before these announcements were made, we weren’t allowed to say, but we had been chosen as one of Small Business Saturday’s #SmallBiz100! We had to keep quiet until August 24th. It was tough but we did it!
To have been selected as 1 of 100 from THOUSANDS of other great small businesses is pretty special! Of course this accolade will be with us forever now, and we’ll be making every second count!
Small Business Saturdays 100 ‘Days’ began in August, but the celebrational Blue Tie event was last night (Thursday 13th September). As soon as we knew about it, we’d booked our tickets! With no idea what to expect, put it this way it wasn’t what we expected! It was formally informal, relaxed and just, well, fun! We envisaged a kinda networking type affair, but we agreed as much as it could be, just be ourselves and DO NOT treat it as a networking event. Enjoy it! We wanted to make new friends, not bore people to death!
As soon as we headed downstairs in the Phoenix Arts Club for the Blue Tie event, there was music, a free bar and food. The coolest networking event we’d ever attended! There was entertainment and we met loads (but not all) of our fellow #SmallBiz100. So many people, time just flew by!
Now we know what to expect at the Blue Tie event, we’re already planning on attending next years’ event. This time with accommodation and limited by our car parking ticket. We really made the most of it. Really enjoyed ourselves. Put names to faces and met new people. Couldn’t have asked for more – apart from time!
We’ll be supporting everyone throughout the remainder of the 100 days, as we have with you guys who have already had their days. Ours in on Wednesday November 14th, plan is to do something that will benefit all you guys and other small business owners, more on that nearer the time. You’ll be able to get involved remotely, but if things go to plan, you’ll be more than welcome to attend what we’ve got planned and we’d love to see you again!
Huge thanks to Small Business Saturday for putting on such a great Blue Tie event. It was superb. Every aspect. We loved the relaxed nature of it, and the celebration of the people behind the businesses. Best networking event we’ve ever been too, hands down. We reckon that’s how it should be done all the time!
