On Saturday (15th) Team DM Lab took on the Wiggle Cotswolds Sportive.
Only taking on the short 40 mile route (as we had the Race4Men in Gloucester on the Sunday so didn’t want to be too over ambitious!) it still wasn’t an easy ride. Starting and finishing at Cheltenham Racecourse, the route took us around a few villages and out into the countryside. At around 11 miles in, all is going well and then appears a thing of nightmares – a hill. No, not just any old hill, this was THE hill! It was truly awful. We got halfway up and that was that. Couldn’t take any more! Along with loads of other riders, we had no choice but to get off and walk up the remainder of the monstrous incline. The perfect spot for the first photo opportunity it would seem. Evil! That really took it out of our novice riding legs so the rest of the route was hard going. We finished with some decent times
Next Sunday sees us take on the Malvern Mad Hatter – another of UK Cycling Events sportives – this time we’ll be tackling a 72 mile ride over the Malvern Hills.
