Yesterday (Sunday 1st March), our Creative Director / Visual Scientist Dale took part in the Almeley 10k – a six-ish mile running race around the beautiful countryside of Herefordshire, with an amazing view of the Black Mountains. The race started and finished at the village hall in Almeley. The course was on country lanes between Almeley and Eardisley. Dale finished the race 4th with a time of 47:13 (his personal best for 10km!).
Reason for the blog isn’t to brag, it’s about making you aware of the events Steve and Jane Poolton (the race directors) have organised. With help from willing (and very encouraging and enthusiastic) volunteers they raise funds for various charities. The Almeley 10k was in aid of the Midlands Air Ambulance.
With just 30 runners turning up it was still a fun event. Runners of all abilities took part and everyone was awarded a bespoke medal. There are 2 more events coming up, Abergavenny 10k on Saturday 25th April 2015 and Malvern View 10k Sunday 19th July 2015. It would be great to make more people aware of the fantastic effort Steve and Jane put in to organising these events and raise even more money for the great charities they support. All this as well as having fun and getting fit!
